The Secretary of the Civil House of the Government of São Paulo, Arthur Lima, made a post this Sunday (25) calling for this afternoon’s event on Avenida Paulista in support of Jair Bolsonaro (PL).

The former president accumulated coup statements throughout his term and is now the target of an investigation by the Federal Police into a coup plot organized in 2022 to prevent the inauguration of President Lula (PT).

Lima is part of the first echelon of the administration of Bolsonaro governor Tarcísio de Freitas (Republicans).

“Come make history in the Democracy Act! Today (02/25), at 3pm, join us wearing green and yellow to defend the democratic rule of law. The organized and respectful participation of everyone is fundamental to strengthening our democracy. Your voice makes a difference. See you there!.”

This Sunday’s act aims to demonstrate Bolsonaro’s political strength and put pressure on the STF (Supreme Federal Court), which has authorized arrests and searches in connection with the investigation of a coup plot.

Tarcísio, on the other hand, accumulates his ups and downs in his relationship with the former president and with the Bolsonarists by adopting a more considered style and dialoguing with opponents, without ceasing to buy into part of the far-right agenda.

According to allies, if he speaks this Sunday, he will have a moderate tone as usual. The governor hosted Bolsonaro at Palácio dos Bandeirantes for the event.

Tarcísio is asked by the former president’s allies to defend him. He has been under pressure for not having publicly spoken out in favor of Bolsonaro after the Federal Police operation that targeted him.

Unlike Bolsonaro, Tarcísio tried not to pick a fight with the other Powers and, therefore, Bolsonaro deputies came to doubt his presence in an act that serves as a response to the coup investigation and in which there is a risk of attacks on democracy.

Some of them say they believe that the governor will not be comfortable on the platform, but Tarcísio’s interlocutors say that there is no discomfort and that, being Bolsonaro’s ally, he could not miss an important event. On Tuesday (20), Tarcísio did not want to respond to journalists about the act.
