The vice-president, Geraldo Alckmin, told the Panel that the Jair Bolsonaro (PL) government demonstrated “neglect” and “irresponsibility” with what he classified as a “billion-dollar default” in the payment of court orders (state debts recognized by the courts).

This Thursday (28), the government announced that it had deposited in court, this month, R$90.7 billion for the payment of court orders and Small Value Requests (RPVs) in all states and the Federal District.

The decision was taken after the STF (Supreme Federal Court) decided that the ceiling for payment of court orders approved by the Bolsonaro administration is unconstitutional and authorized the payment of the stock.

In December 2021, the PEC dos Precatório was approved, which created an annual limit for payments. The proposal was the then government’s mechanism to unlock the payment of Auxílio Brasil of R$400 in 2022, the election year.

“Only the negligence and irresponsibility of an arrogant government could explain the billion-dollar default committed against Brazilians who are awaiting compliance with court decisions that recognized their legitimate right to receive benefits and compensation,” Alckmin tells the Panel.

The vice-president also states that President Lula (PT) is “correcting an injustice” from the past administration.
