Former president Jair Bolsonaro (PL) confirmed, this Thursday (1), the name of former Rota commander, Ricardo Mello Araújo, as candidate for vice-mayor on the ticket of Ricardo Nunes (MDB), who is trying to be re-elected in São Paulo (SP) and has the PSOL federal deputy, Guilherme Boulos, his main opponent in the election.
“When I had a problem at Ceagesp (Companhia de Entrepostos e Armazéns Gerais de São Paulo), I took it to Paulo Guedes (former Minister of Economy) and Tereza Cristina (former Minister of Agriculture), so I decided to invite Mello Araújo to command Ceagesp. Ceagesp was a party of two federal deputies whose names I won’t say. There were bribes for everything. There were about 4 thousand cart pushers, humble people, who paid bribes of R$160 per month. There were 200 women there who served coffee and paid bribes of R$60 per month. There were boxes where the people who rented, it was a bit of a cheap rental with the low price, but on the outside they paid bribes in R$ 100 notes. Truck drivers also paid bribes to stop there. There were drugs, prostitution and everything that sucks there. Mello Araújo assembled his team, mostly made up of colleagues from the Military Police, and put order in the house. Ceagesp became known as a city where 50 thousand people passed through and there was order. So, Mello Araújo did an exceptional job”, said Bolsonaro during an interview with the program No filterfrom the west magazine.
According to Bolsonaro, the expectation is that, if elected, Nunes will grant his vice president the command of Security in the capital.
Mello Araújo’s name was taken to Ricardo Nunes by the president of the PL, Valdemar Costa Neto.
Bolsonaro regretted not being able to nominate federal deputy Ricardo Salles (PL-SP) as a candidate for mayor in the capital, but said that Salles will have other opportunities.
