Bolsonaro City Hall investigates the case of a civil servant who went to the events in Brasília – 01/20/2023 – Panel

The City Hall of Eldorado, a city in São Paulo where Jair Bolsonaro (PL) spent his youth, says that it has opened an investigation into the case of a municipal official driver who was at the coup acts in Brasília on the 8th. Mayor Dinoel Rocha is from the PL, same party as the former president.

Eliseu Trindade, who is a public servant, reported in a local WhatsApp group that he was arrested in front of the Army Headquarters. Images of him at the Bolsonarist camp circulated among residents. Other supporters of the former president in Vale do Ribeira, the region where the politician lived from childhood until he was 18, also traveled by bus to the federal capital.

The mayor’s office said, in a note to the Sheetwho did not receive “any formal complaint involving the participation of civil servants” in the uprising, but learned about Trindade’s case through social networks.

“It was determined that the unfolding of his participation in the aforementioned acts be investigated and followed up with the federal spheres, so that appropriate administrative measures are adopted, guaranteeing full defense, fairness of the process and accountability in the strictness of the law.”

The management also informed that it recorded the server’s absences during the trip, “these days that will be deducted from their salary”, and determined “the loss of their food voucher for the current month”.

In the note, the city hall says it vehemently repudiates the invasion of the palaces. “Attacks on democratic institutions are unacceptable and the depredation of public property is intolerable. Brazilian democracy requires respect for institutions and must be defended by all citizens.”

Mayor Dinoel has a distant political relationship with Bolsonaro and his family members who live in Eldorado, but he supported the former president in the second round against Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT).

Contacted by telephone, Trindade told the report that he would only speak about the matter in the company of a lawyer and did not respond to questions sent in writing.

The driver replied in the WhatsApp group with residents of Eldorado the version that the acts of depredation were committed by infiltrators, which is not proven. “I was there !!! And I can assure you that the images that the press insists on showing were not caused by patriots !!!”, he wrote.

In an audio recording, he stated: “A very terrible thing happened: I was detained at the Army Headquarters, but there were our people who were at the hotel and, suddenly, the police arrived, and those who were with us and others who participated in the demonstration they [policiais] had as evidence, what they associated with the demonstration, was the Brazilian flag or t-shirt”.

Trindade said that “everyone was forced to dispose of” the objects in some way and some chose to “hide them under the mattress”. “I never imagined that in the country where I live, our flag, the national flag, would be evidence of a crime. Maybe I’m wrong, but I think that’s the height of it.”

The climate of the presidential election in the city was accompanied in 2022 by the series of reports by Sheet “Presidential Roots”, which also showed voters of both candidates in Lula’s homeland, Garanhuns (PE).
