Bolsonaro and the US news only know how to speculate on his return – 03/07/2023 – Nelson de Sá

It started with the Wall Street Journal, three weeks ago, publishing an “Exclusive” with the former president in Florida, “Bolsonaro says he will return to Brazil in March to lead opposition.”

Last week, with his presence at the far-right conference, the extremist The Epoch Times also made his, “Exclusive: Bolsonaro will return to lead the opposition in Brazil in ‘uncertain times'”.

Even NBC, markedly pro-democratic, produced an “Exclusiva” with him in the corridors, entitled “Former President Bolsonaro says he intends to return to Brazil later this month” (image below).

And in the little coverage he had from the American media for his speech before Donald Trump, on CNN, the call was also for the promised return, because his “mission is not over yet”.

The Economist even produced an analysis, speculating on what his return would mean.

Bloomberg tried another route, hearing from an adviser that the Lula government is “considering options to force him to return to the country if he does not return voluntarily”, after promising so much.

“Bolsonaro has been repeating that he does not intend to stay long in the United States,” noted Bloomberg. “But he has applied for a six-month US visa, implying that he is in no hurry to leave the country.”

Amidst the jewelry scandal, son Flavio resumed the agenda, tweeted that he’ll be back on the 15th, then deleted it and wrote that it’s not confirmed yet, justifying missing his father.

On Reuters, “Bolsonaro’s son reignites speculation about former president’s return with deleted tweet”.
