The defense of former president Jair Bolsonaro (PL) and former first lady Michelle Bolsonaro asked the Federal Supreme Court (STF) this Friday (1st) for access to the full testimonials given to the Federal Police in the jewelry investigation. This Thursday (31), the PF scheduled simultaneous hearings on the case.
Bolsonaro’s former aide-de-camp, Lieutenant Colonel Mauro Cid, his father, General Mauro Lourena Cid, lawyer Frederick Wassef and Lieutenant Osmar Crivelatti reportedly spoke to investigators during the depositions. The former president, the former first lady, lawyer Fabio Wajngarten and Bolsonaro’s former special advisor, Marcelo Câmara, opted for silence.
Bolsonaro’s defense requested immediate access to the documents. “Given the significant progress in the investigations, notably with the obtaining of crucial testimonies that took place yesterday, authorization is required to update the records, allowing full access to the terms of statements related to the hearings carried out on August 31, 2023”, says an excerpt from the defense request sent to STF Minister Alexandre de Moraes.
Lawyer Cezar Bitencourt, responsible for Mauro Cid’s defense, said that the former aide-de-camp did not make accusations against the former president in the testimonies given to the PF. In a note, Michelle Bolsonaro released a note on her social networks about the testimony to the PF and stressed that she is “fully available to speak in the competent sphere”.
