Allies of Jair Bolsonaro (PL) say they are surprised and perplexed by the operation of the PF (Federal Police) against the former president and see a political character in the performance of the STF (Federal Supreme Court).

Former Minister of the Civil House of Bolsonaro, Senator Ciro Nogueira (PP-PI) told the Sheet that allies of the former president are “frightened” and “very surprised”.

“We are a little scared by this, but we are trying to find out what it really is. I am not used to contesting court decisions, but we are all very surprised”, he said.

“We are therefore a little disbelieving in a search and seizure operation at the home of a former President of the Republic. We are trying to understand the reasons. Our total solidarity with the President”, he added.

Shortly after the search and seizure operation at his residence, Bolsonaro went to the headquarters of his party, the PL, in Brasília.

Some allies went to the place to meet with the former president. Bolsonaro was with his sons Flávio Bolsonaro (PL-RJ) and Eduardo Bolsonaro (PL-SP), in addition to the president of the PL, Valdemar Costa Neto.

Former Citizenship Minister João Roma (PL-BA) arrived at the scene talking on his cell phone and said he would not comment. Federal deputy and former head of Abin (Brazilian Intelligence Agency) Alexandre Ramagem (PL-RJ) also declined to comment on the situation.

The leader of the PL in the Chamber, Altineu Côrtes (PL-RJ), insinuated that there was a political character in the PF operation, authorized by Supreme Minister Alexandre de Moraes.

The federal deputy said that the Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) government is in a bad moment, suffering defeats in the National Congress, at the same time that Bolsonaro is demonstrating his popularity.

“At the most we are perplexed because in politics we never want to link the facts, but the government had a defeat yesterday. Upon leaving the meeting, the parliamentarian said that Bolsonaro is “strong”, but that there is a feeling of injustice.

Altineu Côrtes reinforced that Jair Bolsonaro and his daughter were not vaccinated. She also said that the representative’s daughter did not receive the immunization because she was allergic.

Federal deputy Daniel Freitas (PL-SC) also insinuated that this is a smokescreen.

“They set up a pyrotechnic show because of the vaccination card, which has already been reviewed and analyzed several times and nothing irregular has been found. Smokescreen? Retaliation? Stay strong, president”, he wrote on his social networks.

Senator Cleitinho (Republicanos-MG), who supported Bolsonaro during the elections, said he was still seeking more information about the operation, but defended the investigations. “Let them investigate. Those who shouldn’t shouldn’t fear,” he told the report.

Bolsonaro’s former Minister of Women, Family and Human Rights, Damares Alves (Republicanos-DF), also preferred not to comment and said that it was still necessary to understand the reasons for the PF’s action.

In addition to the search and seizure operation at Bolsonaro’s home, the PF also arrested his former advisers Mauro Cid and Max Guilherme.

According to the Federal Police, the targets of the investigation would have made the false insertions between November 2021 and December 2022 so that beneficiaries could issue a vaccination certificate to travel to the United States.
