Federal deputy Dorinaldo Malafaia (PDT-AP) was elected, this Tuesday (11), vice-president of the mixed commission of the National Congress that will issue opinions on the Provisional Measure (MP 1.164/23) of the new Bolsa Família, which is already in force in the country. The presidency went to Espírito Santo senator Fábio Contarato, from the Workers’ Party (PT).
Bolsa Família replaces Auxílio Brasil, from the previous government, and establishes a minimum value of BRL 600 for families registered in the program, with an additional BRL 150 per child up to 6 years old. In addition, there will be an extra amount of R$ 50.00 for each dependent between 7 and 18 years old and for pregnant women.
In Amapá, Bolsa Família served around 125 thousand families in this first month alone, resulting in R$ 89 million more in the Amapá economy. Throughout Brazil, the program should serve more than 20 million families.
“Bolsa Família is the most important instrument to combat poverty that this country has ever had. In this first month alone, with the additions made by the federal government, many humble and hard-working people have already come to tell me that they are eating more and better. In this reconstruction of Brazil, this was the first and primordial step: food on the plate. Now we are going to fight for economic growth and job creation. We have confidence in Brazil, our country will succeed!”, exclaimed Dorinaldo Malafaia.
The MP was published in the Official Gazette (DOU) on March 2nd and to remain valid, it has a period of 120 days from its publication to be approved by the Chamber and the Senate.
