BNDES forms a study group coordinated by Lara Resende – 01/20/2023 – Panel

The president of the BNDES (Bank of Economic and Social Development), Aloizio Mercadante, created a commission for special studies to advise the bank on long-term projects.
The coordination of the forum, which should be set up in February, will be the responsibility of economist André Lara Resende, one of the fathers of the Real Plan.
Economists José Roberto Affonso, historically linked to the PSDB and one of the authors of the Fiscal Responsibility Law, and Antônio Corrêa de Lacerda, former president of the Federal Economic Council, will also take part.
“They are economists who are very up-to-date with international thinking, on issues such as the coordination of monetary and fiscal policies and the powerful industrial policies being implemented by the US and the European Union”, says Mercadante.
The commission will also deal with other topics in which the BNDES can participate, stimulating specific sectors.
Former Minister of Health José Gomes Temporão should dedicate himself to projects to plan actions related to the industrial health complex, while Luiz Cláudio Costa, former president of Andifes (National Association of Directors of Federal Institutions of Higher Education), will take care of the area of education, with a special focus on digital inclusion in public schools.
There will also be specialists in creative economy, such as the former minister of the area Juca Ferreira, in addition to the environmental area and the fight against racism. The bank is one of the managers of the Amazon Fund, which should once again receive foreign funds during the Lula (PT) government.
“The commission will have the mission of helping the BNDES to be an environmental bank, inclusive and focused on industrialization”, says Mercadante.
The idea is that an event with international personalities marks the commission’s official creation next month.
