Manaus (AM) – The BMW Group factory in Manaus was awarded the gold trophy in the 30th edition of the Amazonas Quality Award (PQA). The plant, which competed with the project “Increasing Operational Efficiency through the Value Stream”, currently produces ten BMW Motorrad models, has an annual capacity for 17 thousand motorcycles, is the only one outside Germany to produce motorcycles exclusively and accounts for 99% of the brand’s national portfolio.

Created in 1994, by the Federation of Industries of the State of Amazonas (Fieam), the PQA aims to recognize and give visibility to organizations in the State of Amazonas in the search for a culture of excellence.

Manaus Factory

The only plant completely focused on motorcycle production outside of Germany, the BMW Group factory in Manaus was founded in 2016 and is responsible for producing 99% of the BMW Motorrad brand’s motorcycle portfolio in Brazil.

With an area of ​​approximately 15 thousand square meters and capacity to produce up to 17 thousand motorcycles per year, the plant has actions aimed at sustainability and the environment, such as the use of energy from renewable sources, promoting a reduction in CO₂ emissions, and is certified I-REC (International REC Standard), a global system that allows companies to guarantee that the energy they consume comes from renewable and clean sources. Since 2018, the factory’s energy has been proportionally compensated by generation at the Morrinhos Wind Complex, in Campo Formoso (BA).

Currently, the Manaus factory produces the BMW C 400 , BMW F 850 ​​GS and BMW F 900 R.
