‘Block of Protection’ participates in the pre-opening of Carnival in the Forest 2024 in Manaus

Manaus (AM) – For the second year in a row, Manaus City Hall, through the Municipal Secretariat for Women, Social Assistance and Citizenship (Semasc), participated in the pre-opening of the Special Group samba school parade, taking the “Bloco do Protection” to the Sambódromo , in the Central-South Zone, this Saturday (3).
The block brought together civil servants, civil society partners and users served by the Coexistence and Strengthening of Bonds Service, offered by the Social Assistance Reference Centers (Cras), in a great celebration of protecting the rights of the population in situations of social vulnerability in the capital amazonense.
“It is a moment of celebration and reaffirmation of our commitment to protecting people in situations of rights violations, whether children, adolescents, women or the elderly. The idea of a carnival in which we can talk about guaranteeing rights, in which we can combat any type of violation of rights, is an idea that aims to build a better city, with more respect”, highlighted Márcia Helena Braga, Head of the Media Division Complexity of the Semasc Special Social Protection Department.
One of the users invited to participate in the block was retired Elda Ribeiro, 67, who praised and thanked the initiative. “For me it was a very special moment. There are many elderly people who hardly leave the house and having an opportunity like this, to meet other people, to be encouraged, is something very unique,” she said.
Semasc teams will still remain in the vicinity of the Sambódromo, carrying out awareness-raising approaches against situations of exploitation of child labor and other violations of the rights of children and adolescents, in addition to providing guidance to the population about the stay of minors there.
Ordinance
According to Ordinance No. 003/2023, of the Children and Youth Court, children under 12 years old, even if accompanied by parents and/or guardians, will not be able to participate in the “Carnival of the Forest 2024”. Children over the age of 12 and teenagers up to the age of 15 may enter and remain in the sambadrome only if accompanied by their guardians and provided with a document proving their age with a photo, original or certified copy.
Children under 12 years of age and adolescents, without supporting documentation, unaccompanied identified at the location, will be taken and immediately handed over to their parents, legal guardian or the Guardianship Council (article 136, I, ECA), through a “Referral Term”.
