Opposition members in the MST CPI brought together seven bills that were presented as the priority agenda against land invasions. According to the president of the CPI, deputy Luciano Zucco (Republicanos-RS), the idea of the “Zero Invasion Package” was well received by the president of the Chamber of Deputies, Arthur Lira (PP-AL). The intention now is to be able to put the propositions to a vote during a week, which is already being called “Zero Invasion Week”.
Zucco informed that there is still no scheduled date for the votes, but that he should speak with the president of the Chamber in the coming days. Despite the end of the CPI, the group of opposition deputies intends to maintain coordination through the future Parliamentary Front for Invasion Zero, for which signatures are still being collected.
The so-called “Zero Invasion Package” includes bills against land invasions and also has the support of the Agricultural Parliamentary Front (FPA). For the president of the FPA, Pedro Lupion (PP-PR), there has been a relativization of property rights in all instances of the current government and the Judiciary, which needs to be curbed with Congressional action. “We will be working in unison on this issue. We will go to the extreme for property rights in Brazil”, stated Lupion in Publication on your social networks.
Among the projects in the Zero Invasion package, the oldest has been in progress for 20 years in the Chamber of Deputies and intends to classify violent acts against public and private properties as terrorism. In his justification, the author of the bill, deputy Alberto Fraga (PL-DF), says that one of the intentions is “to place our criminal legislation on the same level as that of more developed countries”.
