Parliamentary proposal aims to “preserve” the integrity of children and adolescents in public or private events and activities

In the Legislative Assembly of Paraná, a Bill (PL) presented by deputies Alexandre Amaro (Republicans) and Fabio Oliveira (Podemos) intends to prohibit the participation of children and adolescents in LGBTQIAPN+ parades.

Among the justifications, the parliamentarians write that the text “seeks to guarantee the safety and physical, mental and moral integrity of children and adolescents, preserving them from exposures harmful to their development”.

In its article 1, the PL prohibits the disclosure and participation in “events or activities of public or private participation that may threaten or violate the right to physical, mental, moral, spiritual and social development, in conditions of freedom and dignity” . Further below, the text specifically addresses LGBTQIAPN+ parades:

“Events and activities referred to in this article are also considered to be those that have the purpose of promoting the agenda of people who do not identify with their biological sex or choose another sexual orientation”, says the document.

The project was presented in November and is currently in the Constitution and Justice Committee — one of the first legislative procedures.
