Barroso asks CPMI of 8/1 to explain breach of secrecy

Minister Luís Roberto Barroso, of the Federal Supreme Court (STF) determined that the leadership of the Joint Parliamentary Commission of Inquiry (CPMI) of January 8 provide information within 48 hours on the breach of telephone, tax, banking and telematic secrecy of Silvinei Vasques , former director of the Federal Highway Police (PRF) in the government of Jair Bolsonaro (PL).

“There is no reason to break the plaintiff’s privacy, since they requested the breach of confidentiality without first – by voting – the plaintiff (witness) having his condition changed to that of investigated”, say the lawyers, who highlight that the members of the Commission ” cannot usurp the power of the CPMI” and, without voting, transform a witness into an accused.

The CPMI approved the breaches of secrecy last Tuesday (11). The request was presented by deputies Rogério Correia (PT-MG) and Jandira Feghali (PCdoB-RJ) and is related to PRF operations in the 2022 elections. excessive inspections on federal highways in the Northeast region to make it difficult for Lula (PT) voters to get to the polling places.

In a statement to the CPMI, on June 20, Vasques maintained that the allegation consists of a false narrative. “I’ve been trying to tell the truth for eight months. There was the lowest abstention rate in the Northeast,” he said.

Only after the deadline for sending the information by the CPMI – which were not specifically detailed by Barroso – will the defense request of the former director of the PRF be analyzed by the magistrate.
