Bala Rocha receives Medal of Environmental Merit ‘Beija-Flor Brilho-de-Fogo’ for works in defense of the environment – News of Brazil

The mayor of Santana, Sebastião Rocha, received on the afternoon of this Tuesday, the 13th, the Medal of Environmental Merit “Beija-Flor Brilho-de-Fogo”, granted by the Government of Amapá, through the Environmental Battalion, to all institutions civil and military, authorities of Amapá and other states of the Federation who, in the exercise of their functions, promoted activities in defense and preservation of the environment.
The honor is provided for in Decree Nº 0597, of March 5, 2018, and has already honored several authorities from across the state. In Santana, the awarded social project was Cidadão Mirim Ambiental, which has been welcoming underprivileged children and adolescents from the port area of the municipality, aged between 7 and 14 years, for at least ten years.
This year, the Environmental Battalion and the Municipality of Santana assist approximately 40 children, with the support of the Municipality of Santana, through the Department of Social Assistance, the Court of Justice, the Public Ministry and the Military Police.
“I am receiving the certificate and medal from the major, on behalf of Colonel João Paulo, for the relevant services provided by the City Hall of Santana, together with the Environmental Battalion, through the social program Cidadão Mirim Ambiental. I want to express my gratitude and reaffirm our commitment to preserving the environment and protecting our children.”said the municipal manager.
The program addresses environmental issues with the target audience through lectures and citizenship instructions, and also includes the distribution of basic food baskets to the families of young people participating in the project, in addition to offering lunch for children on tutoring days.
