Audit courts launch national operation in schools – 04/23/2023 – Panel

Courts of Accounts from all states and the Federal District, in addition to municipal ones such as São Paulo and Rio Janeiro, are preparing a major operation to inspect the level of infrastructure of almost 1,100 public schools spread across the country, between Monday (24) and Wednesday (26).
The operation was organized by Atricon (Association of Members of the Brazilian Courts of Auditors) and the TCE-SP, which cooperated with technology and the training of agents.
Safety is one of the items on the inspection agenda. The 785 agents involved in the action will observe, for example, which units have surveillance cameras, and the state of each of the items for preventing school invasions.
This inspection comes in the wake of a wave of attacks on schools across the country. On Thursday (27) it will be a month since a 13-year-old youth stabbed teacher Elisabeth Tenreiro, 71, to death and injured five other people at the Thomazia Montoro State School, in São Paulo.
In the state of São Paulo alone, the TCE-SP should inspect the situation of at least 200 schools.
