Athletes from Macapa shine at the Taekwondo World School Championship in Mexico – News of Brazil

Between the 18th and 25th of June, in the city of Mazatlan, Mexico, two athletes from Macapa shone at the ISF World School Taekwondo Championship. Wyctória Rodrigues became Vice World Champion in the Kyorugui category, while Evelyn do Vale secured the bronze medal in the same category.
These extraordinary feats not only celebrate the talent and dedication of these young athletes, but also place the state of Amapá on the international taekwondo stage.
The talented athlete from Amapa, Wyctória Rodrigues, won the silver medal in the Kyorugui category up to 42 kg. With her performance, she has proven herself to be a top-notch competitor on the international stage.
“All the effort, hard training and support from my team paid off. This achievement is a milestone in my career and I am proud to bring the name of Amapá to the international taekwondo scene”account.
The Brazilian participation in the competition had 35 representatives, in the male and female school categories. In all, the Brazilian delegation won 18 medals, 4 gold, 6 silver and 8 bronze, achieving a historic feat for School Taekwondo in Brazil.
Another promise of taekwondo from Amapa, Evelyn do Vale shone in the Kyorugui category up to 68kg, which guaranteed the bronze medal. Her exemplary dedication and technique enabled her to reach a place on the podium.
“It is an honor to have the opportunity to represent my country and bring home the bronze medal. The World Championship was a unique and challenging experience, and I am very happy to have achieved this result”declares.
As a leader and mentor to young athletes, Bruno Igreja, Technician of the Brazilian Confederation of School Sports and Secretary of Sport and Leisure of Macapá plays a key role in the development of sport in Amapá and Brazil.
“The positive impacts that education combined with sport can have on people’s lives are truly transformative. I congratulate my athletes for the beautiful walk in the competition. We returned to Amapá with two important and historic medals, which motivates us even more to continue working to strengthen school sports. In Macapá, we have a proactive Sports Secretariat, which works daily for the well-being of our people, providing sports for everyone”he says.
World School Taekwondo Championship
The Championship, organized by the International School Sport Federation (ISF), is a prominent competition that brings together athletes from more than 200,000 school units from public and private networks in 15 different countries. The event promotes a balance between sport and education, emphasizes values such as fair play, healthy lifestyle, respect and inclusion.
