Athletes from Amazonas stand out in the Brazilian Gymnastics Championship

Gymnasts received airline tickets from the Government of Amazonas to participate in the competition

João Pessoa (PB) – The Amazonian team formed by Asheley Braga, Milyanne Rafaely and Patrícia Rhayanne was featured in the Brazilian Rhythmic Gymnastics Championship, held from July 25th to 30th, in João Pessoa. With the support of the Government of Amazonas, the gymnasts shone in the national competition that brought together the best athletes in the country.

“Governor Wilson Lima has spared no efforts to provide conditions for Amazonian athletes to reach the best national and international competitions. The Voo Campeão Project, in addition to providing tickets for athletes, provides the opportunity to win rankings and medals outside Manaus”,

highlighted Jorge Oliveira, Secretary of State for Sports and Leisure (Sedel).

Debuting in the Brazilian Championship, Asheley Braga won a silver medal, in the ribbon apparatus; Patrícia Moreno was in 9th place, in the apples apparatus; and Milyanne in 34th place overall, competing with more than 100 gymnasts from all over Brazil.

“I was very happy and accomplished. My objective was to do a clean series and the result went much further, I won the silver medal, standing out in the competition”,

commented Ashley Braga.

For coach Giulia Pontes, the Government of Amazonas’ investment for the base category is essential for the development of the modality. “If it weren’t for the support of the Government of Amazonas, we wouldn’t be able to reach this competition. It is through this incentive at the base that we have the best athletes for the future”,

highlighted technique.

The athletes from Amazonas train at the Vila Olímpica de Manaus for an average of 5 hours a day, always looking for the best results in the competitions. “We trained a lot, from two to three devices a day to make good passages in the presentations and the result was great”,

commented Milyanne Rafaely.

The event organized by the Brazilian Gymnastics Confederation (CBG) was held at the University Center of João Pessoa (UNIPÊ) and had more than 200 athletes in the youth and adult categories.
