At COP 28, Amapá and Finland strengthen cooperation that benefits the protection of the Amazon – News of Brazil

During the 28th United Nations Conference on Climate Change (COP 28), Amapá has taken the lead in discussions that aim to benefit the protection and development of the Amazon. The delegation from Amapá met with the Government of Finland to outline new investment possibilities.

At the meeting, the Amapá delegation, led by senator Randolfe Rodrigues, was received by the Permanent Secretary of the Finnish Ministry of the Environment, Juhani Damski.

“We talked about technology, innovation, the Amazon Fund and environmental financing. We want to take our Amapá to the world, and the Climate Conference has been an excellent opportunity for us to strengthen relationships and establish partnerships with different countries”commented the senator.

Research funding in the region was one of the topics discussed. Participating in the Brazil-Finland bilateral meeting were the secretaries of Science and Technology, Edivan Barros, of International Relations, Lucas Abraao, and the director-president of the Amapá State Research Support Foundation (Fapeap), Gutemberg Silva.
