At Christmas for imports, BYD beats Porsche in sales – 12/24/2023 – Panel SA

BYD’s electric vehicles displaced the iconic Porsche models as the most purchased imports and the Chinese automaker soared with 12,000 units sold by Christmas this year.

Volvo and Porsche are closely competing for second place in this market which, in 2023, doubled in sales between January and November. The German automaker’s sales growth was higher for another year in a row — Porsche has never stopped growing since it established itself in the country in 2015.

Abeiva, the association that represents imported assembly companies, reports that 33,400 cars were sold. In November alone, the month of Christmas sales for the segment, almost 250% more cars left the stores than at Christmas last year.

Porsche’s luxury sports cars sold, until Wednesday (21), 59% more than in 2022 — the leader in this segment. With prices starting at R$810,000, the Porsche Cayenne was the model with the most sales (1,443 units).

In addition to the Cayenne, consolidated models, such as the 911 and the Macan, surpassed the 1,000 unit mark.

In April, the automaker opened the second Porsche Center in São Paulo and, in November, it arrived in Salvador.

Combined with regional expansion, macroeconomic factors, such as the drop in inflation and interest rates, the optimism of consumers and businesspeople and the reestablishment of production chains are highlighted as turning points in 2023.
