Arrested, Daniel Silveira denies that he dealt with Bolsonaro – 23/07/2023 – Politics

Former federal deputy Daniel Silveira (PTB-RJ) wrote a handwritten letter from the prison where he is in Rio de Janeiro this Saturday (22), denying having discussed coup plans with Senator Marcos do Val (Podemos-ES) in the presence of former president Jair Bolsonaro (PL).

The confusion began in February when Marcos do Val broadcast live over the internet in which he said that Veja magazine would publish a report showing that former president Bolsonaro tried to coerce him to “take a coup d’état together with him” and record the minister of the Federal Supreme Court Alexandre de Moraes to reverse the result of the 2022 elections.

Hours later, the senator withdrew from the direct accusation and said that Bolsonaro “only heard” the former federal deputy’s plan, at a meeting that took place in December.

The Federal Police opened an inquiry into the case, and Marcos do Val testified last week about the alleged plan against the STF minister. Within this investigation, the parliamentarian was also the subject of a search and seizure warrant, in June.

In Silveira’s version, he took the senator to President Bolsonaro for a conversation at the congressman’s insistence. Silveira said that the senator wanted to speak with Bolsonaro because he had important information about Minister Moraes, but he did not specify what it would be.

The former deputy said that during the meeting his colleague only praised the president and said he would fight in the Senate for conservative guidelines. He denies that the name of the STF minister was mentioned during the conversation.

“clown this [do Val] who invented a story that becomes increasingly ridiculous due to the obvious. Neither the president nor I had ever seen the member of Swat, CIA, FBI, Mossad and Tutti quanti, so why would we ask him, then him, for something like this idiocy?”

Silveira also said that there would be no reason for Moraes to confess to the senator “something substantial that would incriminate him”, which shows that there is no way to believe the report.

According to the lawyer Paulo Faria on social networks, responsible for the defense of the former deputy, the letter was delivered to Silveira’s wife.

The former parliamentarian is arrested by order of the Supreme Court after making threats to members of the court. In 2022, the court sentenced him to eight years and nine months in prison for crimes against the democratic rule of law and coercion in the course of the process.

The defense of Senator Marcos do Val stated, in a note, that the accusations made by the former deputy do not have any support in the elements collected by the Federal Police during the investigation.

“The messages sent by the former deputy to the senator are clear and unequivocal, being duly attached to the police investigation records. We reiterate the innocence of Senator Marcos do Val and we believe that, at the end of the investigations, his upright conduct and his parliamentary action in favor of Brazilian society will be confirmed”, he said, in a note.

The parliamentarian was heard on Wednesday (19) about the case for the second time and spent more than five hours at the PF headquarters, in Brasília.

In one of his versions, Do Val said he exposed Bolsonaro’s coup proposal to Moraes. According to him, the idea was to compromise the magistrate and force him to step aside from ongoing investigations. The parliamentarian also raised the possibility of annulling the elections and preventing Lula’s (PT) inauguration.

Former president Bolsonaro testified to the PF about the case and confirmed the meeting with Do Val and Silveira in December, but denied that he had participated in the alleged plan to record Moraes.

Read silveira’s letter in full:

“The truth.

– After a public hearing in the Senate on “judicial activism”, I returned to my state.

The following day, around 7 pm, Marcos do Val called me requesting a meeting with the President. The request was strange because I had never had contact with him, except by chance in parliament. He said he had important information to pass on to the President, but he didn’t pass on the content, well, he said he was dealing with Alexandre de Moraes, but he didn’t reveal anything to me.

The following week I took him to the President, of course, after warning him that Marcos do Val insisted a lot. The President received him like any other parliamentarian. The conversation lasted a short time, between 10 minutes or a little more and he asked me not to ask that it be a stopwatch to mark the time of a crappy meeting that became a circus because of a clown.

This clown invented a story that becomes increasingly ridiculous due to the obvious. Neither the President nor I had ever seen the member of Swat, CIA, FBI, Mossad and Tutti quanti, so why would we ask him, then him, for such an idiotic thing? Only a purple idiot would believe this nonsense! Furthermore, why would Alexandre de Moraes confess to him, then to him, something substantial that would incriminate him? You have to be a complete idiot to believe this story, and if it were true, there’s no such thing as crime.

During the infamous meeting, Marcos do Val only praised the President and said that he would fight in the Senate for conservative guidelines. The name of the member of the STF was not even mentioned, except in the connection that the information was about Alexandre de Moraes.

End of story, file away!

Ps: Who gives idea to crazy…

Daniel Silveira, political prisoner.
