The Joint Parliamentary Commission of Inquiry (CPMI) of January 8th began, this Tuesday morning (27th), the hearing of Army Colonel Jean Lawand Júnior, from the Army.
In his opening speech, before the questions from the members of the collegiate, he promised to explain the content of the telephone messages exchanged with the former assistant of the Presidency of the Republic, Colonel Mauro Cesar Cid, and captured by the Federal Police (PF) in which he would be advocating military intervention in the country after the 2022 elections.
“At no time did I speak of a coup, I never attacked Brazilian democracy or even attacked any institution,” he said. The military man made a point of saying that he has a professional history without disciplinary problems.
In messages released by the press, and later made public by the courts, Lawand and Cid talk about the chance of former President Jair Bolsonaro (PL) enacting military action against the Superior Electoral Court (TSE).
According to the colonel, who was Deputy Chief of Staff of the Army and was even nominated for a position of military attache in the United States, today he performs bureaucratic duties. Cid is under arrest.
