Stadium is ready to start the 2024 sports agenda
Manaus (AM) – After maintenance and revitalization services, the Arena da Amazônia is ready to host the clash between Flamengo and Audax, valid for the first round of the Campeonato Carioca, this Wednesday (17). With an almost complete squad, the delegation arrived in the capital of Amazonas on Tuesday afternoon (16), for the debut of the 2024 season of the squad and the stadium.
“The preparation of the Arena da Amazônia reflects the commitment of the Government of Amazonas to offering high quality facilities for our athletes and fans, aiming for the stadium to be the stage for major state and national games throughout the year”, emphasized the Secretary of State for Sports and Leisure (Sedel), Jorge Oliveira.
Maintenance work ranged from internal and external cleaning, painting renewal, jet washing, earthworks and special attention to the lawn. Field care included the application of herbicides, drastic pruning, vertical cuts, pest control, decompaction, topdressing, as well as applications of fertilizers and phytohormones.
Aiming to ensure a safe environment for athletes, technical teams and fans, the locker rooms also underwent maintenance services, accompanied by a thorough cleaning of common areas, stands and bathrooms for the general public. The Carlos Zamith stadium, which also recently received maintenance services, will be the chosen location for the Rio teams to train.
The Arena da Amazônia will host several sporting events throughout the 2024 season. As an internationally renowned stage, the World Cup stadium will host games from the Campeonato Amazonense, Copa Verde, Copa do Brasil, Campeonato Brasileiro Série B and D, as well as the Brazilian Women’s Championship Series A2 and A3.
