Areas with market potential in Medicine gain new postgraduate courses in AM

The market in the field of Medicine is constantly evolving and specialties with great potential include Intensive Medicine and Ultrasonography. In Amazonas, there are 63 professionals working in Intensive Medicine and 123 in the Radiology and Imaging Diagnosis segment, an area where Ultrasonography specialists are included. The data are from “Medical Demography in Brazil 2023”, a study carried out by the Brazilian Medical Association (AMB) and the USP Faculty of Medicine.

According to the director of Afya Medical Education, Suelen Gonçalves, when compared to the size of the population of Amazonas, more than 3 million inhabitants, it is clear that it is necessary to reinforce new professionals in these areas, which are extremely important. It is based on this scenario that Afya Medical Education has directed its efforts by investing in the training of these professionals, opening vacancies for postgraduate courses in Intensive Care Medicine and Ultrasonography.

The advancement of technologies in Diagnostic Medicine has been reflected in the job market. Suelen Gonçalves highlights that the constant development of ultrasound equipment and imaging software has allowed greater diagnostic accuracy and a wider range of applications. “This creates demand for highly qualified professionals who can operate and interpret these advanced systems,” she highlights.

In Intensive Medicine the demand for new specialists is also growing. The Ministry of Health recommends that every hospital is obliged to have at least 6% of its beds dedicated to Intensive Care, which requires qualified medical professionals to provide the necessary support to patients. “Professionals in this area, due to the complexity of their work, are quickly absorbed into the job market”, he highlights.

At Afya Medical Education, Intensive Medicine and Ultrasonography courses are offered in hybrid mode, with online theoretical classes and practices carried out in person at the unit in Manaus, located at Avenida André Araújo, 2767, Aleixo.
