In November, recruiter Robert Half released a salary guide with salary prospects for 2024 in several areas, including technology. The salaries of the positions analyzed drew attention, with remuneration above R$20,000 on several occasions, and up to R$51,600 for an experienced technology director (see here). However, some professionals questioned g1 whether these “super salaries” are really applicable to formal contracts or only to those who work as legal professionals. Experts interviewed by the report state that, although corporate contracts are known for paying higher salaries at the end of the month, the model does not always pay off and these values ​​can also be achieved with a CLT job (understand below). ➡️ In short, the CLT contract is one in which the company registers the employee in the contract and, therefore, needs to follow all the rules set out in the Consolidation of Labor Laws (CLT), such as paying vacations, 13th salary, FGTS, INSS, etc. The PJ contract, in turn, is an agreement between legal entities (companies), so it does not guarantee the worker CLT rights, explains labor lawyer Denison Leandro. “He receives a slightly higher salary because he doesn’t have discounts on his pay slip, but he has to take money out of his own pocket if he wants any benefits”, says the specialist. 💰 Which pays more: PJ or CLT? “Today we have very attractive salaries in the PJ model and the CLT model. It will depend on the size of the company, the complexity of the vacancy, whether this company is a startup or not”, says Joel Nunes Carrel, commercial manager at Randstad Brasil, a global company providing Human Resources solutions. According to him, despite the tendency for corporate contracts to pay more, as there are no discounts, the CLT in Brazil also provides high salaries, “mainly for more senior professionals, who work with data, artificial intelligence, programming”. “I have seen an information security specialist who received more than R$50 thousand in a well-known cyber defense company, without a management position, in the CLT model”, he comments. Data engineer Adalton Tavares de Assis Neto has experience with both hiring models. For him, being a PJ can be an advantage due to the possibility of managing several projects and obtaining better salaries, but the stability of the CLT is also a factor to be considered. “Before, I only worked as a PJ, but recently, there was a drop in projects and I lost some contracts. Now, after having bought a house and my daughter was born, the CLT value is what helps me with the bills, as it is a fixed amount every month”, he states. And he continues: “PJ will always pay more, just There are also companies that hire employees and pay absurd salaries, R$30,000, R$40,000, depending on what the person does.” However, to achieve this remuneration, in both contract models, it is important to train yourself , advises Carrel, who works at the HR company focusing on technology. “It’s not just about having technical knowledge. You need to be fluent in English and the ability to relate to different work environments. Anyone who likes technology has to know that development is continuous, that they will die studying,” he says. For Rafael Arruda, who owns a consultancy and training company in the data area, constant study is even more important for those who are PJs. “Because stability becomes your knowledge, not your employment record. If a PJ consultant today earns R$ 15 thousand, for example, and, at the end of the year, is not updating himself, he may not be able to maintain this salary next year.” ⚠️ Points of attention According to lawyer Denison Leandro, the “pejotization can be interesting for certain salary ranges”. According to him, it is important that the worker receives a value high enough to compensate for the benefits he is not receiving due to not being a CLT. Furthermore, for the PJ contract to be advantageous , the company really needs to “treat the worker as a PJ”, he explains. “It cannot demand subordination, for example, forcing the person to keep time, to participate in meetings. The worker is a company, so he has to be able to carry out that service, sell what was in the contract, and that’s it”, points out the lawyer. “And, if the company treats the PJ as an employee, he can file a labor lawsuit and show the judge that he had to work so many hours per day. day, respond to a supervisor, who was actually a CLT, he just wasn’t registered.” For Carrel, from Randstad Brasil, a tip for professionals who are starting out in the technology area is to initially work in a more traditional model and, when they reach a senior level, explore corporate contract options. “The CLT allows exchanges between colleagues, teams , learning development. It’s the gateway, and it makes a difference if you work with the structure of large companies, with more senior professionals”, he says. 🏢 And how is the market currently? “The more traditional companies in Brazil, large companies, tend to hire CLT”, explains Joel Nunes Carrel. “There are a series of issues. It is the need to include people within your payroll, within your umbrella of professionals”, he states. According to him, the companies that hire most in the PJ model are currently smaller ones, usually startups. “When a startup is in its initial phase, the tendency is to hire as a PJ because, with the market value of a CLT, it can have two PJs and can grow faster”, agrees Águida Silva Pereira, partner at the law firm Mapz .law, niche for technology companies.
