The Cardinal Archbishop of São Paulo, Dom Odilio P. Scherer, celebrates a mass in memory of the victims of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine next Friday (24), the date on which the war marks one year.
The participation of civil and religious authorities is foreseen, in addition to representatives of the Ukrainian community in São Paulo.
The ceremony will take place at the Sé Cathedral, starting at 12h.
Ukraine reaches one year since the invasion and fears a major Russian offensive on the anniversary of the fighting.
At the Munich Security Conference this weekend, the invaded country reinforced its demands for heavier weapons to Western allies. The most recent demand is for fighter jets, which Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmitro Kuleba said he was confident would eventually be met. “It’s a matter of time and procedure.”
