App drivers will have guaranteed labor rights – News of Brazil

Senator Randolfe Rodrigues, leader of the Lula Government in the National Congress, together with the vice-leader, federal deputy Dorinaldo Malafaia, celebrated with Charles González, leader of the Amapá app drivers, the advancement of the law that guarantees drivers labor rights. President Lula signed this Monday, 4th, the proposed complementary bill.

“Today is a historic milestone in the lives of Brazilian workers”commented Randolfe. “This is a memorable moment in the country’s history: the government created a new modality in the world of work, giving autonomy, but, at the same time, establishing guarantees for workers”, completed.

The project is the result of the dedication of the working group created by the Ministry of Labor and Employment with representatives of companies, unions and sector entities.

The project determines the payment of a 27.5% contribution rate at the National Social Security Institute (INSS), 7.5% paid by workers and 20% collected by companies. In addition, it also establishes payment of R$32.09 per hour worked and remuneration of at least one minimum wage.

The new rules only apply to transport in four-wheeled vehicles. The text will be sent urgently to the National Congress – as a result, the Chamber of Deputies and the Federal Senate will each have 45 days to analyze the project.
