The international adviser to the Presidency, Celso Amorim, met this Wednesday (21) in Rome with Cardinal Matteo Zuppi, Pope Francis’ envoy to Kiev.
Both agreed to unite in the international mediation effort to find a way out of the Ukraine war.
According to an assistant to the Brazilian ambassador, both have a very similar vision, of equidistance and pragmatism to find a solution to the conflict.
Amorim was appointed by President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) to carry out his proposal to create a group of countries to mediate between Russia and Ukraine. He has already been to both countries, in meetings with presidents Vladimir Putin and Volodimir Zelensky.
