During the meeting, Amom reinforced the importance of the Zona Franca model, in addition to new economic models and forest preservation
Brasilia DF) – A few days before the inauguration, councilor and elected federal deputy Amom Mandel (Cidadania-AM) met with the current president of the Chamber of Deputies, Arthur Lira (PP-AL), and with parliamentarians from the Amazonian bench, to discuss agendas facing the Amazon. The meeting took place in Brasília, on Tuesday (17).
The implementation of a new economic matrix for Amazonas was one of the subjects of the meeting. The theme is defended by Amom Mandel, who suggested the carbon credit market for the region as an alternative economic model. In addition, the parliamentarians also discussed the protection of tax incentives in the Manaus Free Trade Zone (ZFM) and the importance of preserving the Amazon rainforest, affected by rampant deforestation and fires.
“We know that it is necessary to help preserve the Free Zone in its current form, we cannot simply replace our economic matrix overnight. On the other hand, our rulers, historically, in any sphere, have not made efforts so that we do not have this dependence on the Free Zone. I was elected now for a first term as a federal deputy and I intend to make an effort so that we can diversify this economic matrix and so that we, in the future, are not dependent on a single matrix”,
declared the MP.
According to the parliamentarian, only Lira was committed to all the agendas of the bench, thus winning the vote of the representatives of Amazonas. Amom explained that a possible tax reform was also on the agenda of the meeting.
“The understanding of the entire bench in Amazonas is that a tax reform is inevitable. We pay a lot of taxes and Brazil is one of the countries that most requires time from entrepreneurs to calculate the amount of taxes. If you have a product that is made in a certain state, you have a tax rate for each state. We, as a parliament, want to simplify these taxes and also, as far as possible, make them fairer”,
said.
