During the programming of the 28th Conference of the Parties – COP, federal deputy Amom Mandel (Cidadania-AM) will participate in three panels to discuss the global climate crisis and the rights of environmental activists. The speeches take place this Sunday (3).

At the “Parliamentary Pavilion – Globe Internacional”, in the Blue Zone, Amom should be part of the launch panel of the “Bancada pelo Planeta”, an initiative by the Parliamentary Front for Indigenous and Environmentalist Rights in Brazil, scheduled to start at 10 am (Dubai time). On the occasion, the parliamentarian is expected to speak about how climate change has affected the lives of the population of Amazonas.

Later, still in the same pavilion, at 12pm, the federal deputy will go to the panel “The role of the legislature in tackling the climate crisis”, where he will share space with other deputies and senators to discuss the Brazilian parliament’s actions regarding the environmental issue.

Starting at 4:30 pm, at the “Brazilian Pavilion”, Mandel will present the main points of the report for the approval of the Escazú Agreement at the Foreign Relations and National Defense Commission (CREDN), where he is rapporteur. The international treaty deals with transparency, protection of environmental defenders, in addition to the training and training of public agents on environmental issues.

“The COP is an opportunity to give visibility to the problems we are experiencing on a daily basis and that occur because there is still not enough respect for the environment. It is not normal that the capital in the heart of the Legal Amazon is suffocating and this has not yet had an international repercussion”,

criticized Mandel.
