The Legislative Assembly of the State of Amapá held celebrations in honor of Evangelical Day. Wednesday morning (29) was marked by a solemn session that included the delivery of Motions of Applause to Christian representatives of the State. The event had a significant presence of evangelicals from different denominations, filling both the plenary and the galleries of the House of Laws. The opening of the ceremony was led by singers Bruna Rayane and Greicy Cardoso, who performed the National and Amapá anthems, respectively. Then, singer Dalva Farias presented songs by national gospel artists.

According to data from the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE), the Northern region of Brazil leads in the number of Protestant Christians. Even though it is a secular country, this statistic is seen as a way of supporting and encouraging those who follow the Christian doctrine. The president of the Legislative Assembly, deputy Alliny Serrão (União), expressed her satisfaction upon receiving pastors, workers, missionaries and prominent representatives of the Christian segment during the official opening of the celebrations. “We always understand the importance of each person in society”, she emphasized. The parliamentarian also recognized the fundamental role played by churches in society. “The public authorities have done their part by serving the population with social actions, but we know the fundamental role that churches have played in our society”, emphasized the parliamentarian.

The representative of the municipality of Mazagão, deputy Zeneide Costa (Podemos), was moved when talking about the family during a moment of praise during the event. “I also want to express my emotion when remembering my beloved mother, Damásia Costa, Deaconess of the church, a remarkable influence in her life. And I can’t help but remember my son Raulian Daya, who would have completed another year of life, but left, leaving a huge loss and emptiness”, shared deputy Zeneide Costa. During the event, the parliamentarian gave 24 applause to the pastors present.

Representative Edna Auzier (PSD) highlighted the legacy left by Pastor Charles of the Baptist Church, which celebrated 70 years of existence in the State. In her statements, the parliamentarian expressed gratitude for the special moment and recognized the importance of the presence of the evangelical community. During the speech, Edna Auzier thanked the spiritual work carried out by pastor Apostle Kelson Abraão from Comunidade Evangelica Reviver. She emphasized the need to seek divine protection in the face of family struggles and expressed gratitude to President Aline Serrão for keeping the celebration of Evangelical Day alive in the Legislative Assembly.

The licensed deputy and state secretary of Aquaculture and Fisheries, pastor Paulo Nogueira, member of the PT, highlighted the fundamental relevance played by churches by highlighting the social work that often fills the gaps left by the Public Power. During his statements, he expressed his gratitude to God and shared his satisfaction with the president, praising her for a significant act that recognizes the active presence of the church in Amapá. “First of all, I thank God, the author of life, and express our joy. I congratulate the president for this important act of recognizing the church’s presence in Amapá. The church reaches where public authorities cannot; that’s where the church is present, praying, treating addicts and those on the margins of society”, emphasized pastor Paulo Nogueira.

The composition of the table was attended by deputies Alliny Serrão, Edna Auzier (1st secretary of the AL board), deputy Zenaide Costa and deputy Liliane Abreu (PV), director of the Legislative School. The device was complemented by the following religious leaders: Pastor Paulo Nogueira, licensed deputy and current state secretary of Aquaculture and Fisheries of Amapá; pastor Gerson Martielli, president of the Madureira ministry in the State; pastor Amado Flexa, representative of the Union of Leaders in the Middle of the World; pastor Orlando Moura Gaia, representing the SEMEADAP convention; prosecutor and pastor Iaci Pelaes, representing the Pioneira Assembly of God Church; and pastor Guaracy Nunes, president of the Foursquare Gospel churches in the State of Amapá.
