Amnesty PEC: Deputy will be ‘anti-candidate’ in commission – 07/12/2023 – Mônica Bergamo

Federal deputy Fernanda Melchionna (PSOL-RS) intends to run for the presidency of the special commission that will debate the so-called Amnesty PEC. Contrary to the proposal that establishes the greatest pardon in history for irregularities committed by political parties, the parliamentarian aims to occupy a prominent place with the collegiate to bar discussions.

As shown to Sheet, the Chamber of Deputies called for this Wednesday (12) the installation session of the special commission, the last step before the vote on the PEC in plenary. In May of this year, the proposal was approved by the Constitution and Justice Commission (CCJ) by 45 votes to 10.

Opponents complain about the fact that the call takes place in the middle of the “white recess” of the House, marked by the absence of face-to-face sessions and also of the deputies themselves.

“It is absurd that, without the indication of several deputies by parties to compose the seats and in an empty week, the Chamber installs the special commission to discuss the shameful PEC 9, already [tomando providências] for the voting of president and rapporteur”, says Melchionna.

Self-proclaimed “anti-candidate” for the presidency of the special committee, the deputy still classifies the proposal as nonsense and criticizes the profile of the parliamentarians who defend its approval.

“It is clear that the candidates to lead the commission that analyzes the PEC that gives amnesty to parties for not fulfilling, precisely, the quotas for women and black people, are all white men”, he says.

The PEC prohibits any punishment for electoral illegalities committed until its enactment, including disrespect for the minimum transfer of funds to women and blacks in elections. It is supported by almost all parties and has among its signatories both the government leader, José Guimarães (PT-CE), and the opposition leader, Carlos Jordy (PL-RJ).
