The production competes in the ‘National Highlight’ category, a first for this edition of the Shell Theater Award

Manaus (AM) – Signed by Panorando Cia e Produtora, the Amazon show ‘As Cores da América Latina’ is nominated for the 34th Shell Theater Award in the ‘National Highlight’ category, unprecedented in this edition and with the aim of increasing the chances of visibility for shows from all over the country. The award announcement will be this Tuesday (12), in São Paulo.

It is the first time that Amazonas is among the finalists of the national award that recognizes the best professionals in the theater class. In addition to the Amazon show, the ‘National Highlight’ category has nominees from Bahia, Paraná and Minas Gerais.

Fábio Moura, director of Panorando Cia e Produtora, celebrates the nomination of the show that involves intense research into artistic expressions, such as dance, theater and circus.

“We were completely ecstatic! It is the main performing arts award in Brazil, and for the first time, they created a category to recognize the main shows premiered across the country in 2023. This nomination also represents a lot because it reaffirms the path we are following, exploring the borders between Dance and Theater, popular culture and the scene. So in addition to the show itself, our general research has also been recognized and valued”, he stated.

Panorando artists will participate in the ceremony for the 34th Shell Theater Award, this Tuesday, March 12, 2024, at Teatro Sérgio Cardoso, in São Paulo.

The Colors of Latin America

The show is inspired by three Latin American cultural events: Fiesta de la Tirana (Chile), Huaconada (Peru) and Cavalo-Marinho (Brazil). Artists perform involving artistic expressions, such as dance, theater and circus. The visual aesthetic is notable for its strong and vibrant colors, and the characters wear Fofão masks – a figure from the traditional Maranhão Carnival.

Panorando has already taken the production to renowned artistic events, including: 14th Amazonas Festival Encena na Rua (Porto Velho/RO), 31st Garanhuns Winter Festival (Pernambuco/RE), 11th Amazonas Dance Festival (Manaus/AM) and 17th Amazon Theater Festival (Manaus/AM).

Recently, the show also ran with free performances in squares, parks and alternative spaces in Manaus. The artists took their art and interacted with the public at Fundação Doutor Thomas, Parque Ponte dos Bilhares, Praça do Manoa, CSU do Parque 10 and Praça do Leme (Compensa).
