Amazonense is among the finalists of the Brazil Swimming Trophy

Caio Arcos is a member of the Amazonas Project at the Paris 2024 Olympics

Manaus (AM) – “My main objective is to be among the finalists”, it was with this phrase that the Amazonian Caio Arcos embarked for the Brazil Swimming Trophy, in Recife, and was among the seven best swimmers in Brazil, with a time of 2min04sec, in the 200 back meters. With the support of the Government of Amazonas, the athlete made history breaking the fast of more than 20 years since the last time an Amazonian reached the final of this competition.

“Caio Arcos is a member of the Amazonas Project at the Paris 2024 Olympics and by determination of Governor Wilson Lima we are making it possible for him to participate in national and international competitions, so that he guarantees the dreamed Olympic index”,

commented the holder of the Secretary of State for Sport and Leisure (Sedel), Jorge Oliveira.

Caio Arcos, 18 years old, is currently the best backstroke swimmer in the North region. “I was very happy to represent Amazonas in this competition and I appreciate the support of the State Government for giving me this opportunity to be among the best Brazilian swimmers”, he commented.

The Brazil Swimming Trophy was held between May 30th and June 3rd, at the Santos Dumont Aquatic Center, in Recife, and brought together more than 400 athletes. Today, Caio Arcos has been training to reach the indices and aims to be number 1 in Brazil.

The swimmer performs his training at the High Performance Aquatic Park of the Vila Olímpica de Manaus.

“My focus now is the Brazilian Championship, which takes place in July, in Bahia. I’m going to swim 100 and 200 meters backstroke, I’m preparing a lot and I hope to continue bringing titles to Amazonas”,

commented Caio Arcos.

Accumulating numerous results, the athlete from Amazonas carries the title of South American champion in 2022, 5th place in the school world cup held in France in 2022, Brazilian medalist in 2018 and 2022, in addition to being a gold medalist in the Leônidas Marques Trophy , from 2023.

Amazonas was also featured in the North-Northeast Athletics Championship, which took place last weekend in Recife. With support from the Government of Amazonas, athletes Ricardo Alvarez and Temístocles Paraizo climbed on the podium in the national competition.

Reaching the mark of 15.88 in the triple jump test, Ricardo set a new record for Amazonas, surpassing the previous one of 15.81. Temístocles Paraizo won a gold medal in the javelin throw, with a mark of 65 meters.
