Decision

Luan Gabriel, participant of the show Pequenos Gênios, from Domingão com Huck, was approved in mathematics at UEA

Manaus (AM) – Luan Gabriel Aguiar Gama, 11 years old, has a place in the mathematics course guaranteed by determination of the Court of Justice of the State of Amazonas (TJAM). The “little genius” passed the entrance exam at the State University of Amazonas (UEA).

Brazil met Luan Gabriel after participating in the show Pequenos Gênios, from Domingão com Huck. The boy drew attention for carrying out long math calculations without the aid of a calculator and for his knowledge of geography.

“Thus, in an ideal scenario, with the diagnosis of high abilities already being made, I understand that a multidisciplinary assessment would be necessary to determine whether academic advancement would be capable of producing any significant harm to the student”,

instructed the magistrate.

Luan Gabriel attended up to the 5th year of elementary school, but the judge requested that the Amazonas Department of Education carry out a school advancement exam to assess whether he has the necessary conditions to attend university.

The decision emphasizes the need to assess the child’s mental health, since the university environment presents conditions different from those to which he or she is accustomed at school.

“It is worth highlighting the fact that people, especially children, who have high abilities, can have their own nuances when it comes to the emotional aspect, and can even develop anxiety or depression, a fact highlighted in a psychological report” ,

warned.

The exam must be carried out within 45 days, and Luan Gabriel’s place must be reserved until the end of the evaluations.
