Amazonas 3×3 basketball team guarantees a spot in the Pan Americano in Mexico

The team is part of the Amazonas Project at the Paris 2024 Olympics
A highlight in the Brazilian University Games (JUBs) in Praia, the 3×3 basketball team from Amazonas secured a silver medal in the competition and qualification for the Pan American Games, which will take place in Mexico.
With support from the Government of Amazonas, through the Champion Flight, the team is part of the Amazonas Project at the Paris 2024 Olympics and continues in preparation for the long-awaited Olympic vacancy.
“We know it’s not easy, but in an unprecedented way we will have a representative from the North in this competition. And this only motivates us, knowing that we are working with this sport in a significant way by determination of Governor Wilson Lima”, highlighted the CEO of the Amazonas de Alto Rendimento Foundation (Faar), Jorge Oliveira.
With the score of 18 to 13, the team from Amazonas won the title of runner-up, losing to the team from São Paulo.
JUBs Praia was held in São Luís (MA), sponsored by the Brazilian Confederation of University Sports (CBDU), the championship had teams from the North, Northeast, Midwest and Southeast regions, bringing together more than 24 Brazilian states in the dispute.
Acting in the wing/guard position, team captain Victório Cestaro, 23, says that the support he received was essential for that victory.
“Since the beginning, the Government of Amazonas has been part of the realization of this dream, of winning a place in the Pan-American. Thanks to the support received along with our dedication, training and efforts, we won this vacancy”, he commented.

The team from Amazonas is formed by the athletes Victório Cestaro, winger/owner; Carlos Guilherme Rebelo, pivot; Vinicius de Lima, wing/pivot and Jeisrael Bentes, wing; and Francisco Mady, owner. With two years acting together, the athletes have been making history in the 3×3 basketball of Amazonas.
With intense training routines held at the Vila Olímpica de Manaus, the team continues to prepare for national and international competitions.
