Manaus(AM)- Approximately 300 athletes will participate in the 2023 Amazon Judo Cup. The competition, which is part of the events calendar of the Amazonas Judo Federation (Fejama), will take place this Saturday (17), starting at 8:30 am, at the Renné Monteiro gymnasium, In Manaus.
The event will count on the special participation of judokas from Amazonas who shone in the National Selective of the Sub-13 and Sub-15 classes, at the beginning of the month, in Rio de Janeiro. The Rio de Janeiro capital also hosted local athletes who competed in the U-18 Brazilian Championship.
Under the leadership of coach Denise Oliveira, who is also vice-president of the local federation (Fejama), and coach Márcio Klinger (Centro Educacional Adalberto Valle), Amazonas had three runners-up in the National Selective: Yuri Gabriel Lima da Silva ( Under-13 Men’s Super Light), Jadson Laynon de Araújo Souto (U13 Men’s Heavy) and Bianca Cardoso Freitas (U15 Women’s Heavy). The highlights will compete in the Amazon Cup this Saturday.
According to the president of Fejama, David Azevedo, the Amazon Cup is an official competition on the federation’s calendar. It is open to judokas of all classes, ranges and weight categories, representatives of academies in the capital and interior of the state. Concentration for the opening parade begins at 8:30 am. The parade of associations begins at 8:45 am. The fights for real start at 9:30 am.
Sport partners – Fejama events have the support of the Government of Amazonas, through the Secretariat for Sports and Leisure (Sedel), and the Manaus City Hall, through the Manaus Sport Foundation. Samel Planos de Saúde has also been a partner in this modality for over a decade. The official announcement is made by Emanuel Sports & Marketing. Fejama is affiliated with the Association of Olympic Federations of Amazonas (Afoam).
