In an opening ceremony that exalted the state’s cultural diversity, the Government of Amapá launched the state phase of the 2023 Amapa School Games. Avertino Ramos Gym, in Macapá.
The objective of the Amapa School Games, to promote, through sports, the socio-affective, educational and cultural relationship between the students and professionals involved, in addition to revealing new sports talents, was highlighted by the governor, Clécio Luís.
“We had an emotional ceremony, which rekindles the joy that is the hallmark of the School Games, which in this year’s edition has almost double the investments made in this competition, with the return of the partnership between the Education and Sports and Leisure departments, strengthening the participation of the school community”, emphasized the governor. The secretary of Education, Sandra Casimiro, highlighted that recovering and expanding partnerships for holding the School Games is part of the motto of this year’s competition: “Sport within everyone’s reach, welcoming to integrate”.
“As the Indian saying goes, ‘It takes a village to raise a child.’ And here, this army that we constituted for the realization of the School Games was necessary. It is Amapá investing in sport and education to make a difference in the lives of so many student-athletes”said the secretary.
Also participating in the event were the Secretary of State for Sports and Leisure (Sedel), José Rudney, the mayor of the municipality of Amapá, Carlos Sampaio, and the president of the Amapa School Sports Federation (Fade), Arlindo Rogério. athlete’s oath
The opening ceremony of the state phase excited and involved the students. With the right to performances of mara bass, the marching band of the Nilton Balieiro Machado school and the traditional relay of the Olympic torch, the students also took the athlete’s oath, on the occasion read by para-athlete Flávio Iury, who is in his fourth participation in the games.
“Sport today represents my life. Thanks to him, I have already traveled to several places and was able to compete in national competitions. My expectation is to return to the national stage, now in November, and bring another medal to Amapá”said the student, who accumulates student medals at state and national stages.
The state stage of the Amapa School Games continues until this Friday, the 30th, with disputes in about 30 collective, Olympic and Paralympic sports. More than 120 schools, from 14 municipalities, participate in the competition.
About the 2023 Games
The 2023 edition of the Amapaense School Games began on June 10. The competition receives students from 12 to 14 years old and from 15 to 17 years old, in several individual and collective modalities.
The State Departments of Education (Seed) and Sports and Leisure (Sedel) are the organizers of the competition.
The champions will receive medals, trophies and gain the chance to represent Amapá in the Brazilian School Games and Youth School Games, which will take place in the second half of this year.
