Amapá delegation leaves to compete in the Brazilian School Games, in Brasília – News of Brazil

Starting this Wednesday (25), the first part of the Amapá delegation will be embarking to compete in the Brazilian School Games (JEB’s), which takes place between October 26th and November 9th, in Brasília.
The Brazilian Confederation of School Sports (CBDE) is the entity responsible for holding the event and the State Government, through the Department of Sports and Leisure (Sedel), sponsored half of the athletes’ tickets, with an investment of around R$300 thousand.
“The state government, through Sedel, in partnership with CBDE, is taking 236 athletes. A unique experience for the athletes and at the same time we guarantee good results for the state”, highlighted the Secretary of State for Sports and Leisure, Rudney Cunha.
In the first shipment, 136 athletes will be taking part in individual and collective competitions. The other 110 student-athletes will be heading to the federal capital on November 1st.
All students are between 12 and 14 years old and are enrolled in public and private educational institutions in the municipalities of Laranjal do Jari, Vitória do Jari, Oiapoque, Santana and the capital Macapá, with emphasis on the districts of Pacui and Quilombo Curiau .
Amapá will participate in athletics, adapted athletics, badminton, basketball, cycling, futsal, handball, judo, karate, swimming, taekwondo, table tennis, volleyball, beach volleyball, wrestling and chess. The event is a qualifier for the South American Championships, which will take place in December in Chile.
“It’s a fairly large delegation and they go at different periods. So the first group goes now, then it returns and the second competition group goes”, said the vice-president of the Amapá School Sports Federation (Fade), Olivaldo Nunes.
Teenager Ian Maximin, 14 years old, from Dom Aristides school will compete in swimming, coast style, says it is the first time he is going to Jeb’s. “Last year I was close to going. I’m a little anxious, because it’s the first time I’m going to travel without my family present. I’ve been to foreign competitions like those from the north and northeast, but I haven’t been to the national level yet, this is the first. I think it’s cool because I’m going to have a lot of my friends. Most of them are the people at the Chico Noé pool. I know most of them. So I think it will be a good experience.”
