The State Government participated in the VIII International Festival of Chocolate and Cocoa in the Amazon, in Belém, Pará. The event, which ends this Sunday, the 20th, brings together cocoa representatives from Brazil and Latin America.
Among the debate plenaries, the state effectively participated in the Cocoa Forum, a round table with members from Pará, Amazonas, Rondônia and Colombia, to present the Amapá Cocoa Program.
According to the Secretary of Rural Development (SDR), Kelson Vaz, this is an opportunity to show the potential and investments in cocoa cultivation and production in Amapá for the country and also abroad.
“We followed the event in two moments and one of them was to debate and emphasize the main aspects for the cocoa chain that our state already has. So, it was a great chance that we took advantage of to pass on that quality cocoa is also planted in the middle of the world”, highlighted the secretary.
Another important topic raised during the debates was the fight against pests and diseases in cocoa cultivation. In this part of the event, Amapá was represented by the CEO of the Amapá Agricultural Defense and Inspection Agency (Diagro), Alvaro Cavalcante.
“It was an excellent debate that served us as an exchange of experiences, because we already have expertise in controlling pests and diseases in cocoa, but talking and learning new combat services in the vegetable sector is always good”, emphasized the director.
