Manaus (AM) – Senator Marcos do Val (Podemos-AL) registered with the Federal Police superintendence in Manaus that he had received threats by email from an alleged anti-weapons group, which claimed responsibility for the explosion at a shooting club in the capital of Amazonas. The threat text also contained the name of the state deputy from Amazonas Wilker Barreto (Citizenship).

The registration of the document was made on Tuesday (28). The senator is a defender of the liberation of weapons in Brazil. In one of the parts of the e-mail sent to the parliamentarian, the group states that “it will be very dangerous to go to shooting clubs and gun stores because it could explode like Manaus”.

The anonymous message refers to the case of an explosion in a shooting club that occurred on January 15 of this year, in Ponta Negra, West Zone of Manaus. In all, five people died. The couple Nardier Pinheiro de Araújo and Úrsula Rodrigues Macedo de Araújo, owners of the establishment, were among the victims of the explosion. At the time, deputy Wilker Barreto published tributes to the two friends on social media.

For this reason, the supposed group opposed to the release of weapons also threatened the Amazonian deputy in the email sent to Senator Marcos do Val. “Our next target will be the state deputy of Amazonas Wilker Barreto, who paid homage to the couple that owns the shooting club”.

In a video published this Wednesday (1) on social media, Deputy Wilker Barreto spoke about the threats. Defender of the release of weapons, the congressman pointed out that he has already contacted Senator Marcos do Val to gather more information about the threat. He also informed that he will go to the Federal Police this Thursday (2).

“I really made a post of regret for the deaths of the owners of the shooting club, my friends Nardier and Dona Ursula, good people. I really defend that the good citizen has the right to defend his family and his property. But, that of threatening parliamentarians, obviously I cannot disregard. Tomorrow, I’m going to look for the Federal Police. I have already contacted Senator Marcos do Val so that he can give me more information about this threat he received and which includes my name as well”, he said.
