The Uerj (University of the State of Rio de Janeiro) would have diverted R$ 789,000 to pay 73 electoral officers of 17 candidates for deputy from leftist parties in the last elections. The information is from the UOL portal.
Payments would have been made through funds provided for a research project, included in “secret sheets”. The 73 electoral cables worked for politicians from the PT, PV, PSB, PCdoB, PSOL and PDT.
The report also mentions that most of the beneficiaries would have worked for the PT, campaigning alongside Ricardo Lodi, former rector of Uerj, who was a candidate for federal deputy for the party and lost. According to another report by UOL, Uerj would have transferred R$ 433,000 to the Lodi campaign coordinator’s family.
To UOL, the former dean denied having used university resources to make his campaign viable.
Uerj told UOL that it was unaware of the diversion of funds for electoral purposes and that it will investigate the complaints.
