With a photo on the Substack social network, journalist and founder of Terça Livre, Allan dos Santos, celebrated the arrival of his wife and three children in the United States. Allan has been living in the country since July 2020, where he went into exile after being investigated in inquiries opened by Minister Alexandre de Moraes, at the Federal Supreme Court (STF). In October 2021, Moraes ordered his arrest and extradition, in addition to asking for the journalist’s name to be included on Interpol’s wanted list (which the organization did not comply with).

For Moraes, criticisms made by the journalist to the STF and politicians on social networks would be enough to ask for his arrest for the crimes of slander, defamation, libel, incitement to crime, racism, money laundering and criminal organization. Since then, the minister has been pressing the responsible authorities, such as the Ministry of Justice and the US government, for Allan’s extradition.

Allan petitioned Interpol not to be arrested. In defense, the journalist alleges that he was the target of political persecution and that there was no due legal process in the country for his case.

Recently, the Federal Public Ministry denounced Allan dos Santos for the crime of threatening Luís Roberto Barroso, also a minister of the STF. For the MPF rapporteur who presented the request, the threats would have happened not only through words, but also through the journalist’s gestures and expressions.

Since 2021, Allan dos Santos has had several social networks suspended. His YouTube channel, Terça Livre, had 1.2 million subscribers.
