In a rare interview with a press vehicle, Federal Supreme Court Minister Alexandre de Moraes said it was “fake news” the fact that he was considered by many to be the most powerful man in the country.
“To call me the most powerful man in Brazil is, to use current terminology, fake news,” he told French newspaper Le Monde.
He also stated that he intends to remain for “a very long time” in the position of minister, showing signs that he discards anticipating his retirement, scheduled for 2043, when he turns 75 years old.
Moraes also declares, in a profile written by the correspondent of the French newspaper in Brazil, Bruno Meyerfield, that he chose not to respond to offenses from former President Jair Bolsonaro (PL) out of respect for the chair of the Chief Executive. “The charge [de presidente] deserves respect, no matter who occupies it”, he says.
Although he avoided talking about his personal life in the interview, he reveals that he has a passion for martial arts in his spare time. “I run, I box, and I practice muay thai,” he says.
