Alexandre de Moraes receives case of harassment and threat against TCE-AM president Yara Lins

After the case of moral harassment committed by counselor Ari Moutinho, against the elected president of the Court of Auditors of the State of Amazonas (TCE-AM), Yara Lins, went viral on social media, the Minister of the Federal Supreme Court (STF), Alexandre de Moraes, received the complaint made by senator Soaya Thronicke (Podemos-MT) through her social networks.

Soraya Thronicke highlighted that she took the case to Moraes and highlighted the seriousness of the moral harassment and threats faced by the president of TCE-AM.

“In this week’s visit to Minister Alexandre de Moraes we also took up the case of the President of TCE-AM, Yara Lins. Political gender violence is today a public criminal action unconditional on representation and YES, it leads to jail! The Minister is very sensitive to the spread of this type of crime”,

he wrote.

According to the senator, the minister was touched by the seriousness of the case and expressed concern about the situation of institutional violence reported by Yara Lins. During the delivery of the complaint, the Minister highlighted the importance of combating moral harassment and ensuring the integrity and dignity of women in public positions.

Political gender violence is a present reality in Brazil and constitutes a violation of human rights. Women holding political or prominent positions are often targets of harassment and threats, harming not only the victims, but also democracy and female representation. It is essential that society and institutions take a stand against this type of violence, ensuring a safe and respectful environment for everyone.

Public criminal action unconditional on representation is an important tool to combat gender-based political violence. This means that it is not necessary for the victim to make a formal complaint for the investigation to take place, making the process more agile and effective. This measure helps hold perpetrators accountable and sends a message that violence will not be tolerated.

Understand the case

Counselor Yara Lins, elected president of the State Court of Auditors (TCE-AM), denounced verbal attacks that were allegedly made by counselor Ari Moutinho, a colleague in power at the Court of Auditors. The case occurred during a Special Session held on Tuesday (3), in Manaus.

The complaint was formalized this Friday (6), at the General Civil Police Station. She then called a press conference where she explained the insults she suffered moments before the election.

Yara stated that she greeted counselor Ari Moutinho, he responded, according to her, using profanity. The attacks occurred while she was in the plenary, in the presence of several witnesses.

“I said good morning. He replied, good morning, nothing, whore, naughty, bitch. I’m going to fuck you, because I did the same to Lindora at the Public Ministry, you’ll see it at the STJ”,

reported Yara.

The president of TCE-AM made the complaint accompanied by the elected vice-president of the TCE, Luís Fabian Barbosa, the elected magistrate, Josué Neto, and her son, federal deputy Fausto Jr.

The lawyer representing Yara Lins, Catarina Estrela, emphasized that the counselor acted as if he did not accept having lost the election of president to a woman and that he said he was fluent in Brasília to harm the career of the president counselor within the Court of Auditors of Amazonas .

“I’m not afraid of men. I am only afraid of God and I already trust His Justice a lot, but I also trust the press and the authorities of my state and I know that measures will be imposed regarding the crime that happened to me within the TCE”,

Yara was elected the first woman to assume the presidency of the Amazonas Court of Auditors 6 years ago. She was chosen by 5 votes to 2, to command the Court of Auditors for the next two years (2024-2025), during a Special Session held shortly after the 34th Session of the Full Court.

The Council of the State Court of Auditors, Ari Moutinho, issued a statement denying the case.

“I was raised in an environment of respect and I always understood this behavior for my public life. I can only attribute all of this to an attempt to punish me unfairly for the simple fact that I used my right to annul my vote during the elections for the leadership of the TCE”,
