Alexandre de Moraes orders the PF to hear Anderson Torres on February 2 – 01/23/2023 – Politics

Minister Alexandre de Moraes, of the Federal Supreme Court, determined that the Federal Police collect the testimony of former Secretary of Public Security of the Federal District Anderson Torres on February 2nd. The hearing will take place at 10:30 am.

In the decision released this Monday (23), Moraes said that the deadline will guarantee Torres’ defense the necessary time to analyze the file before the interrogation.

The former secretary is investigated in an investigation that is being processed by the Supreme Court to determine responsibility for failures in local security that allowed the depredation of the headquarters of the three Powers on January 8 promoted by supporters of former President Jair Bolsonaro (PL).

In the first attempt to hear him, on Wednesday (18), Torres was silent. By order of Moraes, the former secretary has been imprisoned in a unit of the Military Police of the Federal District since the last 14th, when he returned from a trip to Orlando, in the United States.

Also investigated in the same investigation are the governor removed from the DF, Ibaneis Rocha (DF), the former executive secretary of Public Security Fernando de Sousa Oliveira and the former commander of the Military Police of the DF Fábio Augusto Vieira.

The defense of Torres, who was Minister of Justice in the Bolsonaro government, asked for access to inquiries into fake news, the digital militia and the anti-democratic acts of September 7, 2021. Moraes authorized it.

Due to the secrecy of fake news inquiries and anti-democratic acts, the minister highlighted, the visit must be previously scheduled with the magistrate’s office, after the return of the records of the PGR (Attorney General of the Republic).
