“Alexandre de Moraes destroys democracy”

In an apparent invasion of the Chamber of Deputies account on X, the profile posted this Saturday morning (10) the message “the dictator Alexandre de Moraes destroys democracy”.

The attacker also said that “they are planning a coup d’état orchestrated by Alexandre and Lula”, marking with a mention (at) the account of President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva. “I will be hunted,” he continued, “but I am fighting back.”

The post, with publication time 11:09, also tagged the account of pastor Silas Mafalaia, one of the accounts of podcaster Bruno “Monark” Aiub created after the ban imposed on others by the STF minister, in addition to the profiles of the former president Jair Bolsonaro and his son Carlos Bolsonaro. “Repost!” asked the anonymous person.

O tweet It spent less than an hour on the air, being quickly deleted. Users on the left and right reacted, with some calling the message “fake news” and others doubting that it was an intrusion, speculating (without evidence) that someone with legitimate access abused the privilege.

For the security of online accounts, using just a password has been an insufficient method to prevent intrusions. According to Microsoft, there are 300 million account hacking attempts per day and additional levels of protection such as two-factor authentication can prevent 99.9% of attacks.

First lady Janja da Silva had her account hacked on the same social network (formerly called Twitter) last December. The attacker posted messages such as “Super Xandão president of Brazil in 2026”. At the time, Janja did not say whether she was using two-factor authentication and government officials tried to use the fact to defend PL 2630/2020, the so-called “fake news PL” or, for critics, “censorship PL”. The project’s rapporteur reacted by saying that the new law would be a “civilizing agenda”, but deleted the post mentioning the invasion of Janja’s profile after receiving a check through the “Community Notes” feature. The owner of X, Elon Musk, explained that the social network is not alone responsible for ensuring that users protect themselves from intrusions caused by other people guessing their passwords.

The Chamber of Deputies did not comment on the case until the report was completed.
