Aleksander Ceferin is re-elected president of UEFA

The current president of the Union of European Football Associations – UEFA -, Aleksander Ceferin, was re-elected this Wednesday (05) to the third in office. The Slovenian was the only candidate and will remain in charge of the organization until 2027, when he will not be able to seek re-election.
A lawyer by training, Ceferin also chaired the Slovenian Football Federation between 2011 and 2015. In 2016, he replaced the Frenchman Michel Platini, who was removed after suspicions of corruption.
Ceferin gained strength in office in 2021, after winning behind the scenes the fight against the creation of the Superliga, a championship that was intended by the richest clubs in Europe. The leader was even incisive when mentioning the subject in the first post-election speech.
They say they want to save football, but the truth is that the Super League and its leaders are characters from Little Red Riding Hood, wolves disguised as grannies, wanting to devour you. Luckily, nobody died. It is but a proof of selfishness and avarice. But there is something that should never be forgotten: football is and always will be the sport of the people.
Held in Lisbon, the congress of the uefa was attended by FIFA President Gianni Infantino and the Portuguese Prime Minister, Antonio Costa.
