The loan amount, R$220 million, will be for investments in housing, basic sanitation and infrastructure
Manaus (AM) – The Legislative Assembly of Amazonas (Aleam) unanimously approved, this Wednesday (1), a request for authorization for the Government of Amazonas to take out credit from Banco do Brasil. The loan, worth R$220 million, is for investments to be made through the State Housing, Infrastructure and Sanitation Program (Prohabis).
The program, managed by the State Secretariat for Urban and Metropolitan Development (Sedurb), will work in areas of fundamental importance, which are housing, infrastructure and sanitation. The majority of the planned resources aim to reduce the housing deficit in Amazonas, as described in the Government Message sent to the state parliament.
In housing, according to the secretary of Sedurb, Marcellus Campêlo, R$150 million will be invested. The resources will be allocated to the Amazonas Meu Lar program. They will be used specifically for the “Entrada do Meu Lar” subsidy, in order to support low-income families that meet the program criteria, allowing them to supplement the down payment amount when financing a property.
The Government will also invest in sanitation. Among the planned actions is the expansion of the reach of the “Água Boa Program” in the interior of Amazonas.
“We will also carry out the first pilots to eliminate landfills in the cities of Nhamundá and Novo Airão. The pilots will serve as the basis for implementing a large state program to eradicate landfills,”
highlighted secretary Marcellus Campêlo.
Prohabis will allocate R$70 million to the sewage system, water supply, urban requalification and rainwater management. In addition, it includes solid waste management and sewage treatment, aimed at public health and environmental preservation.
State deputy Adjuto Afonso (União Brasil) justified the importance of the loan, which will be used to serve the collective interest of the population of Amazonas.
“The way the governor will apply this money will benefit people who need housing and sanitation. This is another project from the State Government that will give dignity to the population in situations of social vulnerability, therefore, I approve and believe in its success”,
highlighted.
