Manaus (AM) — The plenary of the Legislative Assembly of Amazonas (Aleam) approved, this Wednesday (12), the Bill (PL) of Dr. George Lins (UB) which defines guidelines and principles for the collection and disposal of electronic waste produced in Amazonas.
The PL of Dr. George updates Enacted Law No. 247 of 2015, which establishes rules and procedures for the disposal and collection of electronic materials. What is new is the inclusion of new guidelines, such as encouraging partnerships with private companies and municipal governments for the installation of electronic waste collection points.
It also contemplates encouraging consumer awareness of electronic products about the risks to health and the environment, due to the inappropriate disposal of these products. The project also details the list of products that qualify as electronic waste, such as stereos, cameras, printers, components for electrical installation material, among others.
“I am sure that this legislative update will help encourage good practices in the collection and disposal of electronic waste. We know that this type of waste can bring countless harm to human health and the environment if not handled correctly”, stressed the deputy.
